Tips for dry hands, skin and lips

Winter brings cozy moments and warm sweaters, but it also comes with cold winds, dry air, and low temperatures that take a toll on your skin. Dry hands, skin, and lips are common issues during this time. Luckily, there are simple, natural ways to restore your skin’s softness and health. Here’s how!

Dry hands

Our hands are exposed to water, soap, and cold weather daily, which can strip away moisture. Use these tips to protect your hands:

  • Moisturize regularly: Use a natural cream with ingredients like shea butter or coconut oil. Apply it after washing your hands.
  • Wear gloves: Protect your hands from the cold outdoors and during cleaning or dishwashing. Rubber gloves create a barrier against drying cleaning products.
  • Hand mask: Apply honey or olive oil to your hands and let it sit for a while for deep hydration.

Dry skin

Dry patches or a tight feeling are often signs that your skin needs extra care. Try these tips:

  • Shower warm, not hot: Hot water removes the skin’s natural oils. Opt for lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free body wash.
  • Natural oils: Massage your skin with argan or almond oil immediately after showering to lock in moisture.
  • Exfoliate gently: Remove dead skin cells with a gentle scrub (such as sugar and honey) to improve the absorption of moisturizers.

Dry lips

Lips lack oil glands, making them prone to dryness, especially in cold weather. Protect and restore them with these tips:

  • Exfoliate gently: Use a mixture of honey and sugar to remove dry flakes.
  • Natural lip balm: Choose a balm with beeswax, shea butter, or pure lanolin. Avoid products containing alcohol or menthol, as they can dry out lips further.
  • Protection: Apply a thick layer of balm before going outside and choose one with SPF to protect against the winter sun.

General tips for hydratation

  1. Drink plenty of water: Staying hydrated from the inside is as important as from the outside.
  2. Use a humidifier: Combat the dry air from indoor heating by using a humidifier at home.
  3. Healthy diet: Eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids (like salmon, walnuts, and flaxseed) and vitamin E (like avocado and spinach) to support healthy skin.

Don’t let winter stop your skin!
